Bestowal Dialogue
'Not many hobbits escape from Goblin-town even once, but with your help Bilbo might be able to boast that he has done it twice!'
- Twist: Shared Corruption
Background
Bilbo Baggins has run afoul of the goblins of the Misty Mountains... again!
Background
Having found Bilbo Baggins within the dungeons of Goblin-town, you must now return him safely to the surface!
Objective 1
Your rescue of Bilbo Baggins from Goblin-town will not be complete until you have returned him safely to the surface!
- Let us hope you can bring Bilbo safely through Goblin-town without incident!
- Bilbo Baggins: 'Let us hurry to the surface, <name>! I have seen more than enough of Goblin-town to last a lifetime, or even two!'
Objective 2
- Protect Bilbo Baggins while he escapes from Goblin-town
Your rescue of Bilbo Baggins from Goblin-town will not be complete until you have returned him safely to the surface!
- Bilbo Baggins says, "Up here, it's got to be!"
- Bilbo Baggins says, "Hold on, <name>."
- Bilbo Baggins says, "Okay, I think it's safe."
- Bilbo Baggins says, "We're lucky the goblins don't seem to be home..."
- Bilbo Baggins says, "I'd feel better if I still had Sting!"
- Bilbo Baggins says, "No, Frodo has more use for Sting now than I have, poor lad!"
- Bilbo Baggins says, "Ah!"
(Bilbo loots a corpse)
- Bilbo Baggins says, "This will do. It's not Sting, but at least I shall not be helpless."
- Bilbo Baggins says, "Let's go, <name>."
- Bilbo Baggins says, "You should still do most of the fighting! None would mistake me for Thorin Oakenshield!"
- Goblin-town Soldier says, "The prisoner is escaping!"
- Goblin-town Soldier says, "Someone tell Bauglám his prisoner is getting away!"
- Bilbo Baggins says, "'Well now, look at this, <name>."
- Bilbo Baggins says, "When last I was here, I didn't get a good look at the place."
- Bilbo Baggins says, "That's not surprising, of course."
- Bilbo Baggins says, "It's hard to see anything when you're in the clutches of goblins!"
- Bilbo Baggins says, "That would have been the end of my tale and Thorin's both, if not for Gandalf."
- Bilbo Baggins says, "But this time Gandalf isn't near at hand."
- Bilbo Baggins says, "Thanks for coming to find me <name>."
- Bilbo Baggins says, "Ah, we had better keep moving."
- Bilbo Baggins says, "Up, up! That's the way out of Goblin-town!"
- Bauglám Fork-tongue says, "Stop, prisoner! And you too, helpful <race>!"
- Bauglám Fork-tongue says, "I did not steal you away from Sorrog Crows-eye to let you go now!"
- Bilbo Baggins says, "Don't you think we should talk things over?"
- Bilbo Baggins says, "This is clearly just a misunderstanding..."
- Bilbo Baggins says, "No! You spoke of treasure, and I mean to have it!"
- Bauglám Fork-tongue says, "Where are these sacks of gold?"
- Bilbo Baggins says, "May I confer with my friend for a moment?"
Objective 3
- Talk to Bilbo in Goblin-town
Bilbo has asked to speak to you before dealing again with Bauglám Fork-tongue.
- Bilbo lowers his voice and speaks to you in little more than a whisper.
- Bilbo Baggins: 'When I was walking in the mountains, I was captured by a party of goblins, and they started hauling me to their camp. We had gone no more than a hundred feet or so when a second patrol of the creatures came up, led by this fellow. Now, I wouldn't say I'm an expert on goblin-kind, but I have had enough run-ins with them to know that they love gold more than anything. So I had to think fast, and... well, I told them I had been an adventurer in my younger days, and I had hidden sacks of gold in the mountains.'
- 'The goblins fought among themselves for the right to my treasure, just as I thought they would! This fellow won the contest right quickly, before I could get away, and the next thing I knew I was locked in that cell here in Goblin-town! I couldn't tell them the truth, of course; that there were no sacks of gold. When I adventured with the dwarves I did end up with two small chests of silver and of gold, but that was a long time ago and they were never as large as the rumours around the Hill would put them!'
- Bilbo slaps his hands together. 'I think I've got it!' he says. 'You'll get us out of this, <name>, trust me!'
Objective 4
- Wait for Bilbo to try and talk his way out of it
Bilbo has asked to speak to you before dealing again with Bauglám Fork-tongue.
- Bilbo Baggins says, "I have had an idea, my friend!"
- Bilbo Baggins says, "You have already proven yourself to be a most effective fighter."
- Bilbo Baggins says, "Did you not beat that other fellow and his finest warriors? What was his name?"
- Bauglám Fork-tongue says, "Sorrog Crows-eye? I would not boast about besting that weakling!"
- Bilbo Baggins says, "What would you say to another context? A game to prove your mettle?"
- Bauglám Fork-tongue says, "I am listening."
- Bilbo Baggins says, "Single combat! If you beat <name>, I will lead you to my treasure."
- Bilbo Baggins says, "And if <name> beats you, we are permitted to leave."
- Bauglám Fork-tongue says, "Hmmmm. Single combat? One-on-one?"
- Bauglám Fork-tongue says, "I agree to this contest."
Objective 5
- Talk to Bauglám Fork-tongue
Bauglám Fork-tongue seems strangely confident about facing you in single combat.
- Bauglám Fork-tongue: 'Single combat seems fair to me. No one can intervene. This will be a test of strength, one-on-one, and everyone here agrees this is fair, yes?'
- Bauglám Fork-tongue stares at you, his lip curled in a sneer.
- 'There is no backing out now. <race>. Are you prepared to fight?'
Objective 6
- Defeat Bauglám Fork-tongue in single combat
Bauglám Fork-tongue seems especially pleased with himself.
- Bauglám Fork-tongue says, "Hold your cave-claws, friend."
- Bauglám Fork-tongue says, "This is to be single combat, yes, one-on-one."
- Bauglám Fork-tongue says, "But I never agreed to be the one you will be fighting!"
- Bauglám Fork-tongue says, "Thukafak! Get over here!"
You are reminded, once again, that goblins cannot be trusted
Objective 7
Bauglám Fork-tongue has chosen the troll Thukafak to face you in single combat.
- Bilbo Baggins says, "Oh my."
- Bauglám Fork-tongue says, "Kill the <race>, my pet!"
- You have won the contest!
Objective 8
- Remain alert for further trouble
You defeated Bauglám Fork-tongue's champion. Will he now agree to the terms of the contest?
- Bilbo Baggins says, "It looks like we've won, Báuglam!"
- Bilbo Baggins says, "Now you have to let us go."
- Bauglám Fork-tongue says, "Do I?"
- Bauglám Fork-tongue says, "What do you think, boys?"
- Bilbo Baggins says, "Yes, what do these fellows think?"
- Bilbo Baggins says, "Do you think they'll understand that you're going back on a bargain?"
- Bilbo Baggins says, "And if you won't deal fairly with us, might you cheat them too?"
- Bilbo Baggins says, "Maybe he offered to split my gold with you?"
- Goblin-town Soldier says, "What's he saying, boss?"
- Bauglám Fork-tongue says, "Don't you worry about it."
- Bauglám Fork-tongue says, "You've made your point, rat!"
- Bauglám Fork-tongue says, "Get out of here with your friend before I change my mind."
- Bilbo Baggins says, "Smartly decided, Bauglám! Let's go, <name>!"
MISSION COMPLETE!
- Bilbo Baggins: 'Let's get out of here before he changes his mind!'
